"Steve Fox built our holiday home Taupo. It is a modest “bach” designed by James Jack Architects of Napier who prepared the concept and the detailed plans.
We didn’t know of any builders in Taupo so we approached Carters for some recommendations as from whom we should obtain quotes. With Steve’s quote the most competitive, we visited his then current project to see his standard of workmanship and meet his team. We enquired as to the owner’s comments on working with Steve and received a very positive response. The property was a major lakefront property being renovated for an architect owner.
We accepted Steve’s quote and we have never been disappointed with our choice.
He is an excellent tradesman, with a keen eye for detail. As absentees, we were very reliant on him to do the job well as we were only able to be in Taupo on the odd weekend during the construction period. We were very satisfied with the progress he made, the tidy site and the “no short cuts” approach.
We are very and continue to be thrilled with the finished home. A number of building friends have commented on the finish and we appreciated a few “joinery” features he incorporated from some rimu we had from home. The house has won awards in the Master Builders’ Home of the Year competitions.

"In 2007, my wife Linda and I engaged Steve Fox Builders to build us a new dwelling in the Whareroa Village on the western shores of Lake Taupo. Wanganui Architect Bryan Stewart recommended Steve to us and we weren’t disappointed.
At our initial interview with Steve on site, we discussed our aspirations and the concepts we wanted to achieve from building on a fantastic section with 180-degree views of Lake Taupo.
Steve installed confidence in us right from the outset with his building knowledge. At that meeting Steve gave us a build program and timelines we could follow until completion.
Although we live over 2 hours away in Wanganui, Steve’ s communication skills meant we only meet onsite infrequently during the building process and as busy business people we greatly appreciated this.
